Inspired by Portuguese tiles and Toile du Jouy, the pattern on the garments show Erryle’s memories of the Philippines. The garments are inspired by Erryle’s upbringing as an Filipino immigrant who grew up in America and embracing the mixture of cultures from his Filipino and distant Portuguese roots with America as a setting to reflect his identity, not only in garments, but the surroundings as well.

Ukay or Ukay-Ukay, means “to dig through”, which in this context, digging through natural materials to make clothing. This is inspired by the parades in the Philippines, where they used natural materials to create clothing, headdresses, etc. for celebratory and practical use outside of the parades. The cape, is inspired by a rain cape made of leaves, which was used in pre-colonial times. The skirt is made ut of banana leaves weaved together.

Inspired by Bulaklakin, a folk dance taught in schools, Erryle used flowers as a prominent aspect and attached flowers on existing clothing and made accessories out of flowers that are inspired by aspect of filipino clothing, such as the hat and the shawl.
